Rakiura Stewart Island - Department of Conservation

After transferring from Aoraki Mt Cook to Rakiura Stewart Island In 2007, Andrew undertook the business case and cost benefit analysis for the realignment of the Rakiura Great Walk.

The Rakiura Track is a 32-kilometre circular tramping track in Rakiura National Park on Stewart Island in New Zealand. It is one of the New Zealand Great Walks and trampers often take three days to walk it, but it can be done in two days.

The realignment of the track would see a significant area of boardwalk replaced with a hardened track along with new bridges; over 3 months were spent in the backcountry surveying and planning the new track alignment.
